  1. Just curious. No offense.
    Under what criteria is this defined as exotic?
    Is it because it is not wild?

    Personally I find this Scarlet Spiral Flag quite common.
    Btw, it can also be found by the back gate of Normanton Park leading to Kent Ridge Park pond and perceived to be on sale in nurseries cos’ have seen it in some households.

    Hi dandelionwishes, Costus woodsonii is from the Americas. By “exotic”, we mean that the plant was introduced (whether intentionally or accidentally due to human activities) into Singapore, and was not naturally found here in the original vegetation of Singapore. i.e. an “alien”.
